I received an inquiry in my e-mail from one of the contributers to this informal survey of "F tubists". To answere those questions: Yes, I am the tubist of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. My personal instrument is a B&S large bore F (PT-10) which Bob Tucci picked out for me in 1984. I sold my Alex F at the time and I have never looked back. It is really quite a nice tuba and I've used in all the typical big orchestra pieces as well as a few not so typical, and quintet, solo, etc. As I say I have not looked back but I do like to look up and forward from time to time, of which this little survey is a result. I actually intended to include my preference in my original posting but was sidetracked a couple of times and forgot to include it. This past summer in Minneapolis Custom Music lent me a PT-15 for my masterclass. It was a very nice tuba. Very substantial output I thought.

Thank you, everyone. I will be watching for more postings.

Mike
