Actually, no. No one really advises it, but I love playing my Eb, and would be perfectly happy if I didn't touch a CC again. However, teachers still want it and so on, but the important thing is...if they close their eyes and can't tell that your playing an F tuba, you've done your job. Remember, the end justifies the means in this case, especially if it makes you happier...
