I think that you just answered your question right there. You love the sound of a BBb tuba and you really want to continue on playing BBb tuba, so DO IT.
Also, as far as BBb being the Black Sheep of the tuba world . . . tubist in Germany rarely play on CC. Most of the work is done on F and BBb. Also British brass bands use BBb and Eb tubas.
