After consulting with Sande MacMorran (AT) UT (where the owner is a student), I learned the following: The horn was appearantly made around 1980. It has a smaller bore than most Alexes, and had about $1K worth of work done on it upon purchase. It had sat in an attic in Chattanooga for about 15 years, presumably because the intonation was horrendous. (The slides had never been cut) After having some length removed from the horn, it plays beautifully. Although rare, Sande had heard of the reversed (or backwards) valves existing on other horns. So, if anyone out there has a horn like this, hang onto it until I get together enough money to pay you top $$$ for it.
