It depends on what you want. I played a BBb rotary horn, and didn't like it compared to my Mirafone. But I have never had an F tuba up to my lips that made me want to play as does my little 621. Every person who's ever blown a note on that horn has loved it.

Some of their horns are designed in consultation with top pros who are good at refinement. The 621 C an F horns got Daellenbach's blessing (and Schilke's, if what I hear is true). I've seen Daellebach's old Yammy CC, and it is identical, for the most part, to my F.

You'll hear similar comments from folks who play the larger 822's.

But just because I didn't like the rotary Yamaha doesn't mean they're bad for everybody. But they do have a lot of bore size for their outer branches, and you may need a better set of lungs than I possess to get the most out of them.
