A very good tuba player that I know once used one of these Jet-Tone mouthpieces. We call it The Punkass. It definitely gives the sound some kick, and you can play VERY loudly on them, but that's really all they're good for in my opinion. They are so heavy that it takes a good deal of force to get them to respond/vibrate. You can easily develop the bad habit of building up too much pressure behind the toungue before attacks. It's not a habit that you want to develop. The mouthpiece cuts like a knife though any ensemble because it brightens the tone; it gives it a lot of sizzle- probably too much for most situations. If you try one and like it, buy one if you can afford it. Just only use it when you really need to do so. Don't use it as your main mouthpiece.
