I know this isn't the answer you are looking for, so ignore at will.

But I can't resist saying it.

The plastic case that comes with a 621 is light and well-fitted, and great for everything except shipping and flying. When I played at Fiesta Texas, I had to walk a half mile from the employee entrance to our rehearsal room. I hopped those wheels over curbs and bounced them over bricks. And in the last ten years, I have collected zero dents on the horn while it was in the case.

Heckfar, just two days ago I hauled that horn, in its hard case, up a goodly number of stairs carved into the living rock to play TubaChristmas in Harper's Ferry. At the top, I wasn't nearly as red-faced as the fellow who carted up an uncased Conn 24J. The bell ring alone on that horn is probably heavier than the Yamaha case.

The cases for big horns are truly hard to handle and gig bags are oh-so-much more convenient. But for this little horn, why take the risk?
