I had my lead pipe lifted on my CC and it made a pretty noticeable difference in the amount of color in the sound. Maybe it allowed more vibrations and thus more overtones in the sound? I also felt like it really helped my top line A and Ab's lock right in. They were pretty slippery notes before the procedure. However, I also had it done on my Yamaha F and I didn't notice quite as much change in that horn, though it did seem to have a warmer, more present sound also. I think it depends alot on the thickness of brass as Jay pointed out previously.
