Actually, the notes lock in quite well for me. If they didn't I would have gotten soething else years ago. I just wish I could put a heavier bell on the darn thing. I put on a tone ring, but I can't tell if it helped or not.
The funny thing about piggies is that most people assume they have a tight wrap, and therefore play stuffy. On the contrary, Piggy are a very open wrap horn, and they blow quite freely. The shortness comes from how tall the main body of the horn is, and that brings down the height of the bell. I know you know this Steve, but some people may not.
