A few years ago, I did a Christmas gig in downtown Miami. It was slated to be a brass quintet with choir deal and the performance was at the Gusman Center which is the premier concert hall im Miami. The contractor for the gig didn't tell us who was footing the bill but we knew with that kind of venue, they must be fairly well to do. We were to do just a couple of christmas medley tunes by ourselves and then play along with the arrangements for the choir. There wasn't even a rehearsal for this gig because we were told the choir stuff was a no brainer.

So we get to the gig and we're on stage waiting for the chorus to come out. They start to come out and it turns out to be a gay men's choir. Nobody in the quintet, not even the contractor, was aware of this. Then the choir director came out, dressed as Santa Claus in full motorcycle gear, and began to whip the crowd into a frenzy. We proceded to do a christmas concert, the highlight of which was a particularly interesting arrangement of the "Gay Twelve Days of Christmas".
