I'm lucky enough to have a tuba player for a commander and I've had two teeth pulled so far. You need about 1.5 to 2 weeks off the horn, because you don't want the pressure to blow out the clot that is going to form. If that happens, then the possibility of infection is much greater. Our Ops department tried to make me play a gig, but with the support of my commander I didn't have to, even though my profile said nothing about not playing. I recovered otherwise from both my extractions very quickly. I still had to hold the sousaphone even though I couldn't play. What fun...
