The red ring usually occurs when you're using poor or unconventional technique. Get into a consistant warm up routine(i.e. scales, long tones, etc) before playing any upper register/high endurance material. Most of all, get with a tuba teacher.. he/she'll be able to diagnose in 10 seconds what would take us(over the BBS) a week to diagnose textually. Good luck!
