Well, I can't comment on that 5th valve thing, as I don't have one on my BBb, but as far as digging down low, I'll play Eb 1-4 (slide pull), D 234 (pretty close) Db 134 (pretty close, but I honestly haven't tested in recently enough to remember), and C 1234 (very stuffy and a little sharp). There is, of course, no b natural. And while I find it difficult to get most of these notes out with enough volume to be heard during forte passages, they do speak, and with (generally) good tone. And Rick, I can't play above that A on euph, I can't play a bigger mouthpiece as I'll be flat, and I don't have anything above that F on my BBb horn. Amazing parallel . . .
