I have that recording and can attest to its quality.
Oh, do I wish I'd had it when the Austin Symphonic Band played that piece (ca 1985). It was really hard for me to get the sense of that work early on--I was too focused on all those notes I was missing. Later, when I played it again in the San Antonio Municipal Band, I was better and the piece easier for me to understand. It's a fabulous piece of music for a band, and within the reach of most community bands if they are willing to work at it.
But just when we in those bands thought we were getting good, the Dallas Wind Symphony would come to town for a performance. Afterwards, we'd be out on the sidewalk, putting "For Sale" signs on our horns.
