I'm not much of a Euph player but for my tastes I strongly prefer the sound and response from a plain old vanilla Sterling to any other brand I've heard or played.. including the Perantouched Sterling. I like a brighter more lyrical sounding Euphonium. For practical reasons I suspect most true Euphonium players prefer a darker sound so that it is easier to blend in ensemble but for pure beauty of sound if I had the cash I would own a Sterling.

As for the Perantouched Sterling: It's a good choice but you would be wise to try several and to place special emphasis on what you think about the upper register. I've heard it said(please don't hold me to this) that there were some compromises made that affect the upper register that some people like and others don't. It would be best to find out which one you are before you buy.

FWIW,
