Well, dictionaries you are reading are the English ones and Forte is an Italian word. Another way to write a FFFF or louder is put Con Tutta Forza and let it go at that; anything more is hyperbole. We have other terms we conveniently use for our own purposes (Allegro means "Happy" but we translate it as being sort of fast). And other words, like Andante, which are imprecise, at best, and require judgment. Andante means walking, hence, not rapidily but, as Dr. Don Walters told me once, if you imagine a Grandpa walking along with his little grandchild, his feet will be moving slower than the child's feet even though they are making the same progress. Which does Andante mean? Maybe both. Use your head and make music.
