Really Tom, you should think about what you're asking. It is hard enough to design a tuba that actually plays well. I can't see a single way that you could make such an animal adjustable to fit different size humans unless you made the leadpipe out of some sort of flexible hose (I bet that would sound just great...). Every tubist I know who wasn't able to hold the horn in a comfortable playing position did one of two things. They either had the leadpipe bent to fit them or they used some sort of stand which held the tuba at the proper angle and height for them. Or they played a sousaphone (not a tuba) which used bits that were adjustable (a sort of segmented flexible hose I suppose).

You say you don't want or need a stand or a leadpipe adjustment but this is how everybody else has been making their tubas fit them. You may want or need to rethink your priorities.

My opinion for what it's worth...
