I have played a martin-like copy that had 4 front valves and an adjustable bit that was required for the instrument. Without the bit, the receiver was too far from the player's most forward position, and the mouthpiece would not fit. (much like not using a bit set on a sousaphone).

If you are looking for such an instrument, I would tell you that the instrument had a bad problem with the bits leaking, especially at the receiver end going into the leadpipe.
