I playa Willson 3400 and find itthe best all around horn I have ever played. I also have a Hirsbrunner HB4C so my opinion of the Willson is not one formed in a vacuum. I have access to Besson 983 and 981 but prefer the Willson to either. The tone is very centered and I love the 5th valve tuned to 2 whole steps down (but available as a flat first by changing the slide). For a heavy orchestra gig, I might use (and have) the Hirsbrunner but the WIllson does everything else I do very well. I have not played the Nirschel or the MW horns listed in other posts so I can not compare it to them. I do have an old Conn EEb, jumbo proportions but only three valves. This is also a very good horn and makes me wonder what the older Conn 4 valve Eb would sound like.
