I have the luck of owning a 6/4 recording York, dated around 1938. It can with a York AL-TRU mouth piece with 76 stamped on the shank. The shank measures 17.7 mm where it stops in the receiver. (7/8 of an inch) I would like to try my other mouth pieces with this tuba but they have a standard american shanks (As I'm told) and just rattle around. Can I by a ready made shim to make them fit? I have just bought a Conn Chief and love it on the little 4/4 Amati, as well as the York. Adding and removing tape from it to switch tubas seems stupid.
Thanks, Joe S. No.2
