I tried a Conn 52J at the UMI booth at Midwest yesterday. They also had a 4-valve BBb prototype in lacquer, based upon the 52J, that will be marketed under the King name. Richard Barth, the representative, said that they're also developing an F and an Eb horn. It's great to see an American manufacturer go after something other than strictly the student horn market. Apparently, Steinway's acquisition of UMI along with Selmer hasn't put the brakes on the tuba production; rather, it seems that they're pursuing it even more fervently.

BTW, Andrew Hitz sounded great on his 52J in an awesome performance by Boston Brass yesterday!
