Be sure to try the Rudy Meinl. It's the only F tuba that I've ever played that felt like a tuba and not an over-sized euph. I have not, however, played the Gronitz, Hirsbrunner, or Meinl-Weston 45SLP (Brasswind was out of the Meinl when I went).
In any case, good luck with finding a new horn!
