As someone who made the switch to CC about the same time you did, I think the best thing you can do is keep trying. For right now, I'd suggest playing easy etudes, scales, solos, etc. to make it easier on yourself as far as fingerings go. Then, when you get comfortable with that, move on to harder stuff. It's a completely different beast in many ways.
Also, as far as sightreading goes, I didn't have to do any of that for my auditions at college. I think that most college professors are concerned that students be hard working and having the capability to be a good musician, not just necessarily a great musician right now. Those types of professors are the best to have, in my opinion. Hope this helps.
