At the USABTEC 2 years ago Howard Johnson was talking about his Mahillon 4 valve BBb tuba as the "best tuba for jazz playing." He said that he was talking to someone about starting to manufacture this tuba again. I don't know where this ever went, or if it would even be viable, but he seemed serious about it. You could try asking him what he knows about the status of the company.
