You will never see oval euphs, that incorporate the automatic compensation system. And that though Paxman has proved this possible in their Wagner tubas (a not too dissimilar instrument seen from a tech point of view).

Oval instruments are lighter, than their piston equivalents are. For a full and dark, yet projecting, sound some players, like myself, prefer heavyweight instruments.

Oval instruments most often have a uniform bore through all 4 valves, whereas comp pistoners most often have a larger bore, sometimes even an increasing bore, through their 4th valves.

I am known to propagate a smaller bell, larger bore heavyweight euph like my own YEP641. And to blow any consistence of my outings I am very close to aquire a 4 valve rotary oval euph. Just to make my my bar-euph collection a full quartet.
