High school marching band. First year on tuba. The new director was testing us out trying to see how full we could play. First round he said, "I hear a trumpet, a trombone, and a piccolo. You guys have got to put out more sound." Next round I let her rip using the fullest sound possible. His reply was, "Ok, I now hear the tuba player but it's probably just gas."
Who cares where the sound comes from as long as it's in tune with a good tone!
