Yes, I agree on the pistons. The valves on the York were redone by Wayne Tanabe a few years ago when Chris Hall owned the instrument, and they are the best valves I've ever touched. I used to think that the Yamaha valves were great (after a technician and I spent an afternoon working on them), but they are sluggish in comparison. The first thing my teacher said on holding my instrument was "Wow! Great valves!"

Nothing else feels as good, so I don't expect them to, heh, heh. They are really spoiled me on rotaries, however. The action on my Miraphone is short and fast, and the paddles are only a millimeter apart, but those valves feel monstrously heavy compared to the pistons on the York.
