The other tubas mentioned, Meinl-Weston model 25, Miraphone 186, and VMI 103 are all good potential choices, but make sure that she can handle them. The VMI is a well made, good playing tuba, especially for the money, but it is a relatively tall horn. She should try it, or any tuba considered, out and make sure that she can hold it comfortably. Other horns worth considering for around the same price are the new King 2341, Cerveny 686, and the Jupiter 582. The Weril 680 for around $2000 is a bargain priced horn that is well made, but is a little small for a concert band.
