For a start check out Bill Benford (Tommy Benford's brother) who worked with Jelly Roll Morton among others, and Bill Oldham, who recorded some nice stuff with Jabbo Smith. And check out ___ Escudara, the tubist with Fletcher Henderson, and Pete Briggs, with Louis Armstrong's Hot 7.
