Try the archives again. There are alot of varying views on the Silent Brass. I am one who has used it considerably and have found it invaluable. It allows me to practice whenever I want, and not based on the neighbors schedule. Go try it. You will understand most of the complaints right away when you try it, and then it's up to you whether or not you're willing to put up with it in order to enjoy the advantages it has to offer.
