What do you suppose their answer would be? Put yourself in their shoes. A question like, "Why is it that your F tuba has a fuzzy, uncentered low C" is a little like "when did you stop beating your wife." Any answer admits guilt. They will say, "Our F tuba has a wonderful low register--just ask [fill in the name of their hotshot sponsored pro]--he has no trouble with the low C."

This is the answer often provided when people asked why certain horns had bad intonation problems. "The horn's intonation is excellent if you properly support your tone blah, blah, blah."
