Any decent epoxy will work just fine. The trick is soldered large, flat surfaces onto the stuff to be stuck so that you have plenty of surface area to work with. This, in fact, is also true with solder.

The brass bits of a tuba are not so stiff that they would overstress the glue. You'd need a ferrule with a step in it to account for the greater thickness of the composite material, for most everything else, just replace solder with epoxy.
