Not to nit-pick, but there is no such thing as a "digital" microphone!
Don't let ads, or worse yet, salesmen, lead you to believe any different.
Also, avoid any loudspeaker labeled "digital ready". A microphone, just like a speaker, converts one form of energy into another in an analogous fashion. Hence the term "analog".
A microphone converts sound energy into an electrical signal.
A loudspeaker converts an electrical signal into sound.
NO microphone converts sound directly into digits. (although there is a great studio mic out there that has an onboard converter to digital, but it's still a "analog" mic in the front end).
I'm sure others have misunderstood the term "digital" as well. As one of my favorite posters once said: "Words mean things".
