Wholesale price (dealer cost) for silver plating alone at one of the larger overhaul shops is $525 for bright silver and $425 for satin silver. Add to that the cost of stripping the lacquer, re-buffing, and degreasing and you can easily add another $1000 at the dealer cost. All dealers are in business to make a few bucks (that's how we feed our families) so you guess how much changing a lacquered horn to silver will cost.
