I had a friend in college who found a 6/4 4 valve Conn tuba, I believe made in the 20's at a rummage sale. The people in the sale thought that it was in a fire because it was all black. Nope, just a tarnished beautiful silver finish. Very few dents, valves needed a little work but well worth it. He paid $25 for it. What a bargain!

p.s. I picked up an older Besson trumpet at a yard sale for $25, and the guy threw in a Martin trumpet too. They were trumpets, both in great condition, but for 25 bucks, couldn't say no.
