That idea has also been in the back of my mind for many years. I believe the cross-linkage would be easy to do; any saxophone mechanic could figure it out. Accessibility of the 2nd valve slide would be one advantage. Another would be the possibility of a smaller bore for the shortest valve tubing, a slightly bigger bore for the next-shortest, and so on. I believe that a graduated-bore valve system like this would result in smaller intonation problems than what we now have to deal with. I have not pursued the idea because I still prefer pistons.
