After spending the weekend with my cerveny 601 and a pile of mouthpieces (listed in my previous post) I have finally settled on the one which feels AND sounds the best to me.

The R & S Heavy Helleberg! I didn't like it at first but after getting used to it, I found it to be relatively comfortable and gives me the tone that I'm looking for. I have resolved that any other response problems are due to the fact that the 601 is a monster and that I might be too much of a wussy to play it. I'll have to get out the inspirex and get to work or start looking for a smaller axe. Thanks to all of you who offered advice.
