Looking at this from the tuba/bassist perspective; I get a lot more calls for this kind of gig as a bassist, and not as a tubist (TUBAIST, TUBER, WHATEVER...)

Looking at this from a shriner's perspective, I can tell you as the nobles get older, and the lack of younger nobles increases, we can look forward to shrinking circus bands, and a move toward tape/cd/no music at all scenerios.

My last gig in a shrine unit was a Christmas parade in northeast Tennessee. We had to drag a trailer to carry the older nobles. I was by far the youngest at 38, and my partner in the tuba section was in his 80's. No one else was below 50.

Life goes on, but these bands willnot, I am afraid.
