My impression of the 45SLP was that it felt a bit heavy and clunky for an F tuba, and it would not be my first choice for playing anything.
Of all the F's I've played, the best were; 1) the new model Rudolf Meinl F's, both 4/4 and 5/4 size 2)Dr. Jerry Young's Alexander F 3) the Meinl Weston Walter Hilgers model F (the smaller one, 5-rotor, in silver-plate), and 4) the Cerveny CBF654-6, a 6-valve instrument with the neat, huge-bore quint valve. I think I could be comfortable playing any of those instruments in any situation that called for an F tuba.
