There must be a tradition (or something in the water) with those Texas school. My wife, a TCU graduate and avid marching band participant, told me the story of the time that the SMU band, when doing a half-time show in TCU's stadium, finished their show in the school's letters. While in the familiar "SMU" formation, and unbeknownst to the crowd or anyone else, the members of the band surreptitiously emptied their well-filled pockets of Kentucky Blue Grass seed. Imagine the surprise of the TCU groundskeepers a few weeks later when the letters "SMU" started to grow into the field, in a different color of grass. My wife claims that this was no small matter because the only way to fix it was to rip up all the turf and replace it. They had no way to remove just the "rogue" grass. Now, that's a prank!
