You just can't forgetm to mention old Alexander F tubas. If you look around long enough then you can find one with a decent low range, and ok intonation. I have yet to hear a piston F tuba that has that Alexander sparkle to the sound. They are some good PT-10/15's out there that have the same characteristic sound of a Alex so you shouldn't discout them either. They aren't quite from never-neverland but finding a good one might seem like it. The Alex that I own is a 4/4, five rotor, and I play it in quintet, use it for solo's.
