Opera and ballet are considered orchestral excerpts. Remember, Richard Wagner mostly wrote operas (what he called music dramas). Any of Wagners music could be considered opera music. More examples are the "Hungarian March" from Berlioz's opera "La Damnation de Faust" and his opera "Romeo et Juliet". These have part that appear on many audition lists. Don't confuse the term orchestra with symphony. A symphony refers mainly to the instrumental genre and orchestra refers to the ensemble.
