Occasionally on a bad day I have a palate leak. It can be detected immediately by holding your nose closed; the hissing will stop. However, it does have a distinct physical sensation associated with it, kind of like what you feel if you (this is gross, sorry) suck stuff from your sinuses down your throat. If that is it, it can be frustrating to fix, but can be done with experimentation, starting on low-air-pressure notes and working your way up. I think it's caused by tensing the tongue, raising the back of it, which forces the air up behind the palate, and the fix is to relax and lower the back of your tongue (otherwise referred to as opening the throat, by horn players anyway.)
