There are two main stream running through the tuba community. German left facing rotorphones and US left facing pistoneries. Oddly enough with the right facing Franglaisosistic top pistoneurs comping, more or less, their own middle of the road.

This TubeNet community has two Swedish contributors, readers, and friends:

Jan Lybeck of Gothenburg, to be seen at

with his helicon.

And Sven Bring of Stockholm, who just provided me some pics of a Swedish speciality: the bent valve trombone. Not in the style of the vertical cimbasso, but rather the rotary valve trombone taking the inspiration of Dizzy Gillespie (or was it vice versa).

Getting the sound of the fast paced Swedish bands up and out. Sending it high above the ears of the horses in mounted bands:

These "svenske knækbasuner" were a myth of my youth very long ago. I saw the first ones around 1980, and then most recently in 1996.

Technologically they were not very far away from the ones used in my own country and in Germany. My good neighbour will make some shots of proof tomorrow

The most recent index of my uploads is to be found through the link given below here. There you also will find the group links giving you access to my free, open, and non-posting Yahoo brass source groups. The photo links provided above here will not, according to current Yahoo technology, provide you the opportunity to sign up.
