That is indeed clever. I like the joke.
You'll also find that those of us who started band in the 60's still slip and call it a "baritone," out of habit. I personally got tired of answering the question "baritone what?" and started calling it a "baritone horn." As I get more used to calling it a "euphonium," the question has transformed into, "Oh, you mean double-belled?" No doubt due to many showings of "The Music Man" on TV.
