I think you'll be perfectly happy with the Masur/NY. Yes, it might not be quite as "over the top" as Bernstein/Chicago, but it takes less time to listen to (fits on one disc), and is better recorded. I don't know who's playing tuba, but you can hear them just fine, believe me.
