In my opinion adding a 4th valve would make it a good possibility as an all around horn, but don't ever expect to get your money back out of it. Similar to what Tony said about his total investment in his Holton. It was worth it to him, but he could probably never re-sell the horn for what he has spent on it including repairs. Of course what he did get out of it was the ideal tuba for his playing needs, and that makes it worth it.
