I recently bought a PT-6 Rotory from Dillon Music and couldn't be happier with it. I bought it to get more contrast from my F tuba than my Mirafone 186 provided. I was suprised that it was just as easy to play as was the 186... but with a much warmer and broader sound. It has exactly the sound I wanted...big and warm, but not tubby like many other large tubas.

Intonation is different than on my Mirafone. Franky, the Mirafone was a little better in this regard. However, with a little slide manipilation, and I do mean just a little, all notes can be centered without lipping up or down. For me, the sound is worth a little more work in the tuning department.

Ergonomically, the rotory works best for me. I tested a friends Piston PT-6 and was just not comfortable. It did, however, still sound quite nice.
