I have a few cheap/decent bass guitars... They are made in China (like the Fender "Squier") and are made as well as the Fender "Squier", but you do not have to pay for the tiny little "by Fender" decal on the headstock...
...long scale / various colors available / either "jazz" or "precision" pick-ups orientation / minor "upgrades" also available (slightly better pick-ups, etc.)
