I have been really enjoying my Miraphone 184 CC 3/4 tuba for quintet and chamber settings. It really rocks in all registers. It would be a great tuba for what you are talking about. It has a very nice focused sound and can put out some sound when pushed. The intonation is very good as well. It is a fun tuba to play and would get my vote for the type playing you are suggesting.
